Volunteer for a NARST Standing Committee

Volunteer for a NARST Standing Committee

Dear NARST Members,

I hope this message finds you in good health. Although we are in trying times, NARST is functioning well and looking toward a bright future. We recognize that scientific literacy is more important than ever. It takes a global community like NARST to join our efforts to improve science teaching and learning through research. We thank you for your devoted expertise and support as a NARST member.

We are happy to inform you that plans for the 2021 international conference to be held in Orlando, Florida, are well underway. In doing so, we seek volunteers to serve on our standing committees:

Awards Committee

Elections Committee

Equity and Ethics Committee

External Policy and Relations Committee

Graduate Student Committee

International Committee

Membership Committee

Program Committee

Publications Advisory Committee

Research Committee

Website Committee

A description of each committee is available online at https://narst.org/standing-committees or by clicking on individual committee names above.

One of my goals as President-elect is to promote access and inclusivity of NARST as a global community. Service on these committees is a way for you to become more involved, stay connected, and build leadership experience that moves NARST in response to membership voice. I hope that you will take this opportunity to volunteer. To apply, please fill out the form: https://narst.org/form/volunteer-for-committee-service.

I look forward to your application by May 31, 2020.

As President-elect, I will review the applications and recommend committee assignments to the Board of Directors in October. New committee members will be notified by the end of the year and will begin their three-year term during the 2021 conference. Service will extend until the 2024 conference. The only exception is the Graduate Student Committee, which is a two-year term.

Thank you in advance for your invaluable service to NARST.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions regarding committee service at rschwartz@gsu.edu.  I look forward to working with you!
