Dr. Lama Jaber was selected to receive the NARST 2021 Early Career Research Award (ECRA). This honor recognizes Lama Jaber’s professional accomplishments as the most significant among other researchers nominated for the ECRA this year.

Dr. Jaber’s research program lies at the intersection of equity and inclusion, science education reform, and disciplinary practice. She examines learners’ sense-making in science, their epistemic emotions, and how disciplinary engagement can be promoted through responsive teaching. Her important and timely research centers students’ experiences and ideas, particularly those from marginalized communities. In addition, her research encompasses affect in science learning, exploring emotion and empathy. Through publications and presentations in multiple venues, Dr. Jaber is a thought leader in science education research.
