Patrick Enderle Candidate Statement
Patrick Enderle
Candidate for NARST Director at Large
Institutional Affiliation: Georgia State University
I am honored to be nominated to serve on the NARST Board of Directors. Serving on the board offers an opportunity to further support a space that has already shaped my professional trajectory through service on the Program Committee, Strand 8 coordinator, 5 years as an editorial board member and 2 years as Associate Editor for JRST. The new directions emerging throughout NARST during my 15 year membership, including focusing on the role of epistemic practices in supporting science learning, working towards creating equitable science learning experiences for historically underserved populations, and exploring LGBTQ+ issues in science education represent exciting episodes leveraging the existing and emerging expertise of the organization to achieve the vision of making science learning accessible for all. As a site for continued growth for scholars, my goal as a NARST board member would be to nurture that space and expand it further to include more diverse voices and perspectives. Our knowledge of science teaching and learning improves when we account for the experiences of many, making connections across them. My goal for serving on the board involves making those connections personally and organizationally to continue to advance the next innovations in science education research.
