It is an honor to be nominated for the NARST Board of Directors. I have been a NARST member for 15 years. Over the years, I have served in different roles for NARST which allowed me to make meaningful contributions to the NARST community. I served as the board member (2015-2017), chair-elect (2017-2018), and chair (2018-2019) of the Engineering Education RIG. I am currently serving on the Research Committee and its Research Impact subcommittee. In addition, I review NARST proposals and manuscripts for the Journal of Research in Science Teaching as an editorial board member.

If elected, I plan to play an active role to broaden the participation of interdisciplinary researchers in NARST. Several ways to promote and support interdisciplinary research in NARST include encouraging more researchers to actively participate in and across our RIGS; providing means (e.g., via our website portal) to facilitate more NARST member research collaborations, especially global collaborations; advising researchers on where to submit an interdisciplinary research proposal for our annual meetings, since many have had challenges to find a natural place in one of the existing NARST strands.
